Jason Scaggs is a lifelong Southern Maryland resident, small business owner, and community advocate who believes Calvert County’s best days are still ahead.
Jason grew up on a family farm in Lower Marlboro, where he learned the value of hard work, personal responsibility, and the importance of preserving the rural character that makes Calvert County such a special place to live. Those early experiences shaped his belief that strong communities are built by people who are willing to work hard, stand by their values, and look out for their neighbors.
Jason went on to graduate from the University of Maryland, carrying those lessons into both his professional life and his involvement in the community.
As the owner of Scaggs Site Development, Jason has spent years building and improving the infrastructure that supports Calvert County’s growth. As an excavating contractor and local business owner, he understands firsthand the challenges families and small businesses face—from navigating government regulations to managing rising costs and economic uncertainty.
Running a business has given Jason a practical understanding of what it takes to create jobs, manage budgets, and solve problems in the real world—experience he believes is essential for effective leadership in county government.
Jason has also been an active voice in the civic life of Calvert County. He has consistently spoken out on local issues, advocating for transparency in government, responsible spending, and policies that protect the character and values of the community.
During the past two election cycles, Jason played an active role supporting candidates who share those principles and worked to help ensure the school board reflects the priorities of Calvert County families.
Jason is also committed to investing in the future of the community. He is currently developing the Southern Maryland Sports Plex, an indoor sports facility designed to provide opportunities for local athletes, attract tournaments, and bring new economic activity to the region.
Jason is running for County Commissioner At-Large because he believes Calvert County deserves leadership that is accountable to its residents, willing to ask tough questions, and focused on protecting the values that make this community such a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
Jason and his family are proud to call Calvert County home, and he is committed to ensuring the county remains a place where future generations can thrive.
Jason lives in Calvert County with his wife and family. Outside of work and community involvement, he enjoys spending time outdoors and supporting local youth sports.
Jason is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting and fishing the Patuxent River and the waters surrounding Calvert County. He also has a passion for offshore fishing, and each year he looks forward to the White Marlin Open in Ocean City, which has become a favorite annual tradition shared with friends and family.
Jason is also a strong supporter of Calvert County high school athletics and enjoys following all of the county’s football teams on Friday Night Lights in the fall. He is especially proud to support Northern High School, where his son will be a senior next year and part of the Patriots community.
Our campaign is powered by supporters from across Calvert County who want to help make a difference. If you’re interested in getting involved, we’re currently looking for volunteers to assist with:
